Movie breakdown - Hatchet 3 (Decker Shado film review)

Wiki Article

Hatchet 3 was the film that was a horror in the Hatchet trilogy. It tells the story of Victor Crowley, his murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn portrays Deputy Winslow, Rileah vanderbilt portrays Misty.

The film's greatest strength is its use of practical special effects. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of practical makeup effects and sets. This is a departure from many horror movies nowadays that heavily rely on CG effects. The film also has several truly terrifying moments.

Kane Hodder is a standout in the ensemble and is a formidable villain. It's like a slasher film from the 1980s and the dialogue is somewhat funny and snarky. Additionally, there are some genuinely funny moments throughout that provide comedic contrast against all of the gut-wrenching action on screen.

Due to the budget being $1 million, most locations were reused from previous movies. The house on the lake that was used twice in the film was a prime instance. A lot of the film appears to be a re-use from other films within the series. The Hatchet and Hatchet 2 films may feel like it's a familiar film.

In the end, Hatchet 3 was very enjoyable. I found it to be very similar to (click now to see vid) other entries in this series. However, Hatchet 3 provided lots of thrilling thrills and hilarious performances from its actors.
